Old telemetry format
GT7 can broadcast its telemetry in several formats. The newest one carries the most signal and the coach needs that to provide the best experience.
Your console sends telemetry in whatever format it was last asked for. GT Coach always asks for the newest. Another app (e.g. an old SimHub version) on your network might be asking for an older one and taking priority. This app doesn’t have to be on the same computer, it could also be a mobile app on your phone (as long as it’s connected to the same network as your console).
This is not a connection problem. GT Coach is connected.
What you will see
Section titled “What you will see”GT Coach connects normally but the coach never says a word. A banner sits at the top of the app:
Your console is sending an older telemetry format. Coaching needs the newest telemetry format from your console to provide the best experience. Another app on your network is requesting an older format from your console.
How to fix it
Section titled “How to fix it”Find the other app and close it.
- Close anything else that reads GT7 telemetry. Check every device on your network, not just the computer running GT Coach, for instance a dash app on a phone or tablet.
- In GT Coach, watch for the warning banner. It clears by itself once your console sends a usable format again. Sometimes the console sticks to the old format for 1 minute. In that case, wait and restart GT7 and GT Coach.
If you need the other app running at the same time, check whether it lets you choose which GT7 telemetry format it requests, and set it to the newest one. If it does not offer that, set up GT Coach first to use port 33740, and forward its telemetry to the other app: see Is something else holding the port?.
